In Memoriam: George Mann
George Mann, attending the Exhibition Launch event for “A Role for Everyone: The Playgoers of Lethbridge” on August 21, 2025
Condolence Statement from the Galt Museum & Archives
The Galt Museum & Archives is saddened to hear of the passing of George Mann and offers its condolences to his family and to members of the Playgoers Society of Lethbridge.
George was a long-time member of the Playgoers of Lethbridge, having joined the organization in 1963. Over the years, George and fellow members diligently documented the club’s activities. The Galt Museum is honored to celebrate many of these moments in time with our current temporary exhibit, A Role for Everyone: The Playgoers of Lethbridge, which opened on August 9, 2025.
Among the company of many long-time members, George was a guest of honor at our exhibition launch event on August 21, 2025, where he shared reflections on his experiences with the society. His sense of humor and genuine kindness will live on in the memories of his friends and colleagues, as well as all of us here at The Galt. During his speech, we were also touched to learn that George had a special connection to the museum—he was born in the original Galt Hospital.
While we are deeply saddened by George’s passing, we are grateful to have recently shared time and space with him, celebrating the very community he helped build and support, surrounded by his closest friends, family, and colleagues.
