Exhibit Launch Event, May 01, 2026
On May 1, 2026, the Galt Museum officially launched three new temporary exhibits. Down in the Valley (lower-level gallery) explores people’s connection to and reliance on the Oldman River for life on the prairie. Dried Out: Prohibition in Alberta looks at why prohibition was introduced, how it was enforced, and its lasting impact on Alberta society. A Smile in Every Bottle: Sicks’ Lethbridge Breweries Ltd. focuses on the city’s former brewery and how the Sick family built a brewing empire across Western Canada and into the United States.
The event featured backyard party games such as disc golf, bocci, axe-throwing (plastic!), as well as exhibit tours with our Guest Curator of A Smile in Every Bottle, Stephanie Laine Hamilton.
Breweries on the HW3 Ale Trail were also invited and we were able to taste selections from Oldman Brewing from Lundbreck, Stronghold Brewing from Fort MacLeod, and Theoretically Brewing, from right here in Lethbridge.
In celebration, please check out the photos from the day of festivities!
