City of Lethbridge: 2026 First & Second Quarter Public Service MVP Awards
2026 First & Second Quarter Public Service MVP Awards: Jane Edmundson and Kevin MacLean - Galt Museum & Archives
The Galt Museum's recent exhibitions, Treasures & Curiosities and A Smile in Every Bottle were a big hit with the community. Kevin and Jane played a key role in making them happen.
For Treasures & Curiosities, Kevin recruited and trained 16 volunteers. Together, they contributed more than 200 hours to the project. The volunteers helped 110 community members choose items from the museum's collection for display.
Jane was responsible for setting up the exhibition. She found a way to display all 189 selected artifacts in a small gallery space. Thanks to her planning and problem-solving, every participant had at least one item on display. Many visitors came to see their selections and brought family and friends to the museum.
When the exhibition ended, Kevin and Jane carefully returned all items to storage. They then got to work on A Smile in Every Bottle, which opened just three weeks later. The exhibition features nearly 100 artifacts from the museum and private collectors.
Kevin and Jane showed great care and attention throughout both projects. Their work helped create memorable experiences for visitors while protecting important artifacts. Their hard work, skill and commitment to public service make them very deserving of this recognition!
