Top 9 of 2013 Family Programs During Winter Break

Daily Drop-In Family Program runs DEC 27-31 | JAN 02-05.14 | 1:00 – 4:00 pm

Did you miss some of our favourite family programs this year, or you had so much fun you want to do it again? This winter break at the Galt Museum & Archives, keep your hands and minds busy at the Top 9 of 2013 drop-in family program offered 1:00-4:00pm daily from December 27-31 and January 2-5, with the support of our family program sponsor the Green Acres Kiwanis Club of Lethbridge.

Projects for the interactive program are based on the historical and cultural themes in the Galt’s special and permanent exhibits, and are designed for children aged 3-12.

  • Fri DEC 27 Perogies Try your hand at making perogies while learning about the historical and cultural importance of this Eastern European cuisine. Note: you will need to cook the perogies at home.

  • Sat 28    Hobby Horses Make your own hobby horse as you learn about the history of toys.

  • Sun 29    Magic Mud, Slime, and More Explore some science basics as you make some goopy things.

  • Mon 30   Wooden Building Blocks Decorate a set of wooden building blocks to take home, and learn about the history of wooden toys.

  • Tue 31    New Years Masks Celebrate the New Year with a decorative mask while you learn the history of masquerades.

  • Thu JAN 02 Mosaics Learn about how mosaics were used to decorate and tell stories while creating your own personal mosaic wall tile.

  • Fri 03     Japanese Carp Streamers Learn about the history of this Children’s Day tradition while making some to represent your own family.

  • Sat 04    Snow Globes Make your own decorative snow globe as you learn about the origins of this popular ornament. 

  • Sun 05 Flip Books Make your own flip book and learn about the history of animation.

Registration is not required and admission fees include exhibit access. The program is free for annual pass holders and children 6 and under. Admission rates are $3 per program for youth 7 and up, $6 for adults, $5 for seniors. The family rate is $15. Annual family passes and grandparents’ passes are $30.
