Kyosei Kohashigawa (left) and Taru Takayesu (right) in this 1908 photograph. Kyosei Kohashigawa was born in Okinawa on October 24, 1889. He came to Canada in 1907. He worked as a houseboy at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Fort Macleod. He worked as a dishwasher at the Dallas Hotel which still stands in downtown Lethbridge. He married Miyo Nagata in 1917 and brought her to Lethbridge. Kyosei worked in the coal mines in Kipp and #6 in Hardieville. In 1937 to farm in Crystal Lake District then in Shaunessy, Iron Springs and Vauxhall. Since 1958 he lived in Coaldale with his wife and seven children.
