COMMUNITY STORIES EXPLORED IN GALT CEMETERY TOURS

tours offered July and August 2012 | tickets now available

Lethbridge – If these tombstones could talk, oh, the stories they would tell!  This July and August, join Galt Museum & Archives Museum Educator Belinda Crowson on a walk through time as she highlights biographies of people buried in local cemeteries, explains cemetery symbols and history, and shares stories of Lethbridge's past.

“I am always fascinated by people’s reactions during a cemetery tour,” muses Crowson. “Many people come not knowing what to expect. Or they have “Hollywood” expectations of a cemetery. They come to realize that cemeteries have many stories to tell – the headstones are stone documents that provide invaluable information on the lives of individuals and families. Cemeteries show us our entire community – the rich and poor; men, women and children; and people of all backgrounds.”

The Summer Cemetery Tours are held from 7:00 – 8:30 pm on the scheduled dates. Tickets are $4 per person or $3 for Galt Annual Pass Holders, GST included. They are available at the Galt Museum Store – call 403.320-3954. If not sold out, tickets can also be obtained at the start of each tour.
