Lethbridge—The Green Acres Kiwanis Club of Lethbridge began a partnership with the Galt Museum & Archives in 2012 to support the Galt’s weekly Saturdays at 1:00 family program. This allowed the Galt to offer this program year-round for families in and around Lethbridge.

Saturdays at 1:00 is a popular family program offered at the Galt every week. Projects for this interactive program, designed for families with children aged 3-12, are based on the historical and cultural themes in the Galt’s special and permanent exhibits.

“Our family programming here at the Galt Museum and Archives is a great way for everyone to partake in history in an exciting way.” explained Erynn Gordon Konowalchuk, Programs Coordinator. “The sponsorship from the Kiwanis Club allows us to purchase a variety of supplies that are essential for our hands-on activities. In 2017 we were able to reach 3,616 participants in our family programming and have been delighted with the positive feedback we received from families and the many families who attend on a weekly basis.”

Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time, sponsoring over 100,000 service projects each year.
