- Galt Museum & Archives 502 1 Street South Lethbridge, AB, T1J 1Y4 Canada (map)
Adriana Davies signing copies of her publication The Rise and Fall of Emilio Picariello.
Adriana Davies will deliver an online presentation hosted live at the Galt about her new book From Sojourners to Citizens: Alberta's Italian History. The publication brings to life the untold story of Italian immigrants in Alberta from the 1880s to the present. It places them in the narrative of province building from work on railways, mines and other industries to breaking the land for agriculture. Excerpts from family and community histories allow the men, women and children to speak for themselves. What emerges is an unquenchable desire to make good and overcome sometimes intolerable working conditions and discrimination, which culminated with enemy alien designation and internment during the Second World War.
2–3 pm | registration required | museum admission applies | free to annual pass holders | presentation delivered on site with speaker attending via video conference

The Galt is hosting the Southern Alberta Regional Heritage Fair for students up to grade nine. The fair program encourages students to explore Canadian heritage in a dynamic, hands-on learning environment. Preparing and presenting a heritage fair project helps students develop critical thinking, historical thinking, writing, research, performance, and public speaking skills. These projects are initially shown in the schools and the best are chosen to present at the Southern Alberta Regional Heritage Fair.
