Uncovering Secrets: Archaeology of Southwestern Alberta

Overview

Students will discover many different archaeological sites in southern Alberta and explore what the sites tell us about the lives of the people of the past. They will also examine how archaeologists collaborate with community members and rely on oral histories as evidence.

  • Whose responsibility should it be to ensure the preservation of national parks, provincial parks and protected areas in Alberta?

5.2.2 Examine, critically, the ways of life of Aboriginal peoples in Canada by exploring and reflecting upon the following questions and issues:

  • In what ways do anthropology and archaeology contribute to our understanding of First Nations, Métis and Inuit people?
