Stephane Lecture: REMEMBRANCE DAY: A History

Discover the causes behind the creation of this highly significant Western holiday, dutifully celebrated each year since 1919.  Learn how numerous Allied nations needed to justify the carnage of the First World War by laying the dead to rest for perpetuity with a singular and meaningful purpose.  Understand why rituals had to be invented and performed annually for those who lived and survived the horrors of war, or those who lost a loved one in it.  View this commemoration as a cultural, artistic and philosophical force with a deeper understanding of the decade following the conflict where reckoning and memory collided.  A sobering lecture and tribute to our military veterans, not to be missed."   Dr. Stéphane Guevremont is a former aircraft mechanic. He holds a B.A. in History (McGill), a M.A. in War Studies (RMC) and a Ph.D. (UofC) on the Canadian aircraft industry. He teaches history and talks on CBC French Radio One (Alberta)
