Galt Museum looking for Awesome Pets for Fall Exhibit

Lethbridge – Is your pet so awesome everyone should know about it? The Galt Museum & Archives invites pet owners in southwestern Alberta to submit an image and story of their pet for consideration in its upcoming “Awesome Pets!” exhibit showing in the main level hallway October 19 through February 22, 2014.

“For most pet owners, their dog, bird, cat, ferret or lizard add a great deal of pleasure to their lives,” muses Galt Curator Wendy Aitkens. “In fact, many pets become a part of the family. They bond with human members of the family with the wag of a tail, purring and rubbing, playful antics or just their presence in the house. We want people in southwestern Alberta to have a chance to share their awesome pets with museum visitors!”

A limit of two black and white or colour digital or print photographs or videos (maximum 60 seconds) along with a related story (maximum 150 words) and the owner’s full name, address, email address and daytime phone number, must be submitted by Friday, September 20, 2013 to:

Wendy Aitkens, Curator at the Galt Museum & Archives: wendy.aitkens@galtmuseum.com OR dropped off to her attention at the museum visitor services desk: Monday to Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Thursdays 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, and Sundays and holidays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

In order to be considered for display, photos and stories must be appropriate for a family audience. Submissions will be displayed alongside artifacts and photos from the Collections at the Galt.
