Galt Museum & Archives Unveils New Mosaic

Lethbridge—To revamp its entranceway, the Galt Museum & Archives has recently unveiled its new Community Mosaic. The mosaic is made up of portraits submitted by southern Albertans specifically for this project which are mixed in with photos from the archives, some of which are over 100 years old. Submissions ranged from formal wedding portraits to goofy poses. As a whole, the mosaic celebrates the diversity of people who have called southern Alberta home.

“Southwestern Alberta is a wonderful place to live because it is always changing and evolving,” says Executive Director/CEO Darrin Martens. “Being part of a multicultural community, I believe, makes us better people because there are endless opportunities to learn from one another and grow as human beings.”

The Community Mosaic occupies the north-facing windows beside the main entrance to the museum. It will remain in place to greet visitors to the facility for the next two years. The museum is now open and the mosaic has been a highlight for many folks visiting the facility. Those who wish to explore the mosaic in more detail, or perhaps locate their own submission, can do so by visiting https://www.galtmuseum.com/mosaic
