Dust off Your Stylish Suits and Fluff up Your Flapper Dresses

2013 galt beer (& wine) tasting: Prohibition Style | Friday SEPTEMBER 06 | 4:30 – 10:00 pm

Dust off your stylish suits and fluff up your flapper dresses – the Galt Museum & Archives is gearing up for its prohibition-themed Beer (& wine) Tasting Soirée fundraiser Friday, September 6 from 4:30 – 10:00 pm—and tickets are going fast!

“This year’s event, presented with College Lincoln, is themed around the timeline of Religion in the Bible Belt, our upcoming exhibit,” says the Galt’s Resource Development & Volunteer Coordinator Chris Roedler. “Our rooms, entertainment and tastings will be focused on 20th Century prohibition, and we encourage ticket holders to get into the spirit, so to speak, by dressing in period costumes.”

New beers and past favourites, along with wine and spirits, will be available to sample at the event, along with a new selection of festival foods.

“Our liquor sponsor, Northside Liquor Store, has been instrumental in lining up a fantastic selection of vendors”, says Roedler. “We’re also responding to feedback and will bring in new food items like bratwurst, buffalo smokies with gourmet condiments, special salads, pretzels and more; entertainment will be provided by the Bryant & Watson Duo, Pyramid Entertainment and Drama Nutz.”

A silent auction includes a weekend trip to Great Falls, Montana to tour the Harvest Moon Brewery, a weekend getaway to Waterton, and a variety of gift certificates. All proceeds from the event support the Galt Museum & Archives.

Tickets are priced at $12 + GST ($9 + GST for Annual Pass Holders), and are available at the Galt Museum Store, by phone 403.320-3954, or online: go to the events page at www.galtmuseum.com. Collector mini steins are available at the event to ticket holders, while supplies last, and product sampling tickets will be sold at the event for $1 [GST included].

Upcoming 2013 Galt special programs include a Sock Monkeys family program on September 15; an Interactive Aboriginal Art Showcase on September 28, as part of ArtWalk; the Museum Community Evening Harvest Festival on October 5; Flashlight Cemetery Tours starting October 4; Music Trivia Night on October 3 and Hysterical History Improv on October 24 for post-secondary students; “A Sorry State” Film Screening presented with the Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area; and A Night at the Museum Shopping Event on November 29.
