Simple & Seamless Felt Vests

A three-day workshop
with Jorie Johnson

Cost $300 + $50 materials fee +GST | must pre-register by JUL 31 | max. 12 participants | some felting experience required

A unique, informative and practical exploration of wool, hand felt making, vest design, form and function conducted by Jorie Johnson, an internationally celebrated artist, designer and maker who lives in Kyoto, Japan.

Johnson's innovative expression of the 8,000-year-old central-Asian technique of felt making and the influences of Japanese culture are clearly visible in her work; she combines rich colours and layering techniques with materials such as silk, rayon, and mohair.

Introduced to the traditional textile technique in Finland in 1977 by learning to make Scandinavian felt boots, she was immediately enchanted by the magic and power of felting. She found her compatible expression in fiber after studying industrial textile design (weaving and printing) for fashion and interiors.

Johnson teaches felt making techniques and exhibits her contemporary feltworks in galleries, shops, and museums around the world. This is her only workshop in Canada this year.
