program promotes respect and connects the past to the present as students
are introduced to the history, culture and worldview of the Blackfoot
people. 2007-2008 Temporary Exhibit programs Grade 4 Race for Resources Highlights the interconnectedness of history, natural resources and the
economy through the topic of coal mining. Reading a Cemetery Students become engaged in field work as they discover the history in
the cemetery. (This program can be adapted for grades 5 and 7.) Making Do or Doing Without Encourages students to learn about the Great Depression in southern Alberta
and Lethbridge. Southern Alberta at War Encourages students to learn about the history of World War II from a
southern Alberta perspective and to identify how the citizens of Lethbridge
and southern Alberta were affected by the war experience.

Grade 4+ Adventures in Archives Takes students behind the doors of the Archives, shows them the resources
available there and how to access and use them. This program highlights
historical thinking skills and reading photographs and documents for information. Grade 5 Immigrant Voices Uses biographies, stories, anecdotes and primary and secondary sources
to look at the various experiences of immigrants as they moved to southern
Alberta and worked to make it home. Water for the Prairies Looks at how irrigation transformed the Palliser Triangle into the southern
Alberta of today. The program encourages students to discover how irrigation
has affected the history and development of southern Alberta and looks
at topics as far-ranging as settlement patterns and immigration, recreation,
the environment and more.
