Since the advent of the camera, people
have embraced this technology to capture much of what we do and
who we are on tin and glass plates, still and moving film, and now
in a digital format. Featuring images and photographic equipment
from the late 1800s to today, the Galt will delve into how and what
we record through this evolving technology.

need your help!
1. The more we get together...
Did you take pictures at a recent family get together? We would
like to display your family reunion photos!
It can be the big summer picnic with the extended family,
a smaller gathering of family members who have not seen one
another for a long time or
a Christmas together with the cousins...
Include the date and place of the photo, and a short description
of the family gathering.
Laser copies are encouraged, as they will be displayed on bulletin
boards in the main level hallway.
We will display your COPY of the family reunion
photo accompanied by page 2 of this
documentuntil January 6, 2008, on a bulletin board
in the main level hallway.
Photos will be accepted until Christmas.
2. Archives Homecoming
Please stop by and help add to our
historic knowledge by identifying locations of houses...
We have received 400 photos of houses from
the City's Infrastructure Services old engineering department.
Taken in the 1950s and 60s, these photos show a variety
of local houses - from heritage homes to homes under construction.
Unfortunately, they are completely unidentified!

OPEN JURIED PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION Deadline: Mon FEB 4.08 (postmarked)
Visual Arts Alberta is inviting all Alberta artists to submit still
photographic images.
All subject matter, styles, and technical processes are welcome.
Exhibition dates will be MAY 29 to JUN 14.08.
First place prize will be a solo exhibition in Edmonton's Tu
Gallery (dates tba).
Additional awards and recognition will be announced.
Sucessful applicants will be notified by Fri MAR 14.08
