Meet the Galt This program
is designed as an introduction to the Galt Museum in which students develop
an understanding of the role of museums in preserving and sharing our history.
Stories, hands-on activities, tours, and exploration highlight the program.

Discover the Diversity Explore
cultural and ethnic groups of southern Alberta. This program can be structured
to focus on two groups or up to six. Cultures than can be highlighted include
the Blackfoot, Japanese Canadians, Chinese Canadians, Dutch Canadians, German
Canadians, and Ukrainian Canadians.

Pioneers Explore
the life of pioneers in southern Alberta through stories and activities. Making
butter highlights the programs.

Kainai Voices overviews
Kainai history, culture, and stories in order that students can appreciate the
diversity of southern Alberta and the different perspectives people have. The
program promotes respect and connects the past to the present and future. Kainai
Voices also help students recognize the importance of understanding the worldview
of the Kainai and the strengths and gifts of Kainai and other Aboriginal cultures.

ECS to Grade 3
Good Citizens Students will understand characteristics
of good citizenship as exemplified by historic figures and ordinary people of
southern Alberta. This program is further designed to help students understand
how these historical figures have helped shape our community and our history.
Through biographies, anecdotes, stories, and more students will further develop
their understanding of responsible citizenship. Some of the citizenship themes
students may explore include honesty, compassion, respect, responsibility, courage,
leadership, hard work, and dedication.

Grade 1 and Grade 2
Then and Now is designed
to show students the changes that have taken place in Lethbridge and southern
Alberta over roughly the past 130 years. The program analyzes change by observing
how the everyday life of the citizens have changed in that time, by analyzing
the growth and development of the community, and determining the role of individuals
in that change.

Grade 2
Downtown Lethbridge
Treasure Hunt Without leaving Galt Gardens, students
will be required to identify buildings and structures based on old photographs
and historical clues. This program is designed to help students develop an understanding
and appreciation for how Lethbridge developed and emerged as a community; increase
students' understanding of the built environment and awareness of buildings
of historic importance in the downtown areas; and enhance students' understanding
of the unique character of Lethbridge

Ukrainian Connections looks
at the relationship and similarities and differences between Canada and Ukraine
and specifically between southern Alberta and Ukraine. The program also highlights
Ukrainian Canadian history and traditions in order to better understand Ukraine
and studies issues that both countries and areas are facing.

Building Bridges Our
most popular science program! Lethbridge's skyline is dominated by the CPR High
Level Bridge. Built in 1909, the bridge is a marvel of engineering and is part
of what makes Lethbridge unique. Using the bridge for reference and inspiration,
students will construct and test bridges as they build a bridge to cross a model
of the coulee system.
