Sweater Badge, RCA c. 1935-1940
P20100004001

This Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) Badge was worn by Sgt. Frank Shippobotham, a member of Lethbridge's reserve 20th Field Battery.

Shippobotham's career with the 20th began as a militia member in approximately 1930. He enlisted for active service when the Battery mobilized for war in 1939, but was forced to return to the reserves when his childhood bout with polio undermined his arm strength. For the balance of the war he served with the 2/20th Battery (reserve) which trained new officers and gunners for service overseas and kept Lethbridge's wartime militia alive.
