Speed Detector, ca. 1954

Initially used in early 1950s to monitor traffic in Lethbridge, at the time the first and only detector in Police Force. Speed gauge unit was mounted to dash of car and radar lamp mounted on window. A hand held button was pushed to activate detector and again to reset. At time, speeding tickets ranged between ten and fifteen dollars. Excessive speeding and failing to stop resulted in court appearances and fines of up to one thousand dollars. Technology developed making this model obsolete.
