Gerald Tailfeathers (1925-1975) Buffalo hunt scene painted by Native artist Gerald Tailfeathers (1925-1975). He presented the work to the local Yates Memorial Centre to commemorate Canada's 1967 centennial. Tailfeather's knowledge of Kainai history and culture was the focus of his work and his art pieces stand as vignettes of 19th-century Kainai life. At age 10, he traveled from the Blood Reserve in s. Alberta to Glacier National Park, MT to study at the St. Mary's Lake Summer Art School. He received a scholarship to study at the Banff School of Fine Arts in 1941, where he was influenced by the work of significant western artists including Charlie Russell.
