Hi! My name is Spinney and I'm a handmade spinning wheel! I was made out at the Sandhill Hutterian Brotherhood Colony near Calgary in the 1940s. I have just three legs and a shuttle and foot treadle made of blond wood. My wheel doesn't turn that easily anymore - not since the strap that connects my treadle to my shaft broke. But that's okay, I don't get used all the often anymore. At least, not since I moved to the Sir Alexander Galt Museum & Archives in 1976. But before I moved here? Oh boy, I was one busy spinning wheel in my day!
