8 Bombing & Gunnery School in Lethbridge was one of many sites across
Canada that trained air crew member for World War II as part of the
Commonwealth Air Training Plan. During WW II bombs released smoke which
helped training crews determine the accuracy of bombing. The bombs were
collected and reused. This practice bomb was used at Lethbridge. The
donor, Edward John (Jack) Litton, trained at Lethbridge in October 1943.
He served active duty from August 1944 until August 1945 when Jack returned
to Canada and was discharged October 1, 1945 at Winnipeg as a warrant
officer.
