Hello!
My name is Obe and I'm a 'worldly' kind of artifact - I'm a globe! I
was manufactured in the United States of America at the turn of the
twentieth century by the Rand McNally & Co map company. I am made
out of wood, plaster, nickel plate and steel. I moved to the Sir Alexander
Galt Museum & Archives in 1967 after living at the Westminster School
here in Lethbridge. I sure was well used! I taught so many children
about the world and the continents and the oceans! I taught so much
that my printing is starting to lift from my plaster and I'm all worn
at my base. In 2004 my metal ring cracked in three different places!
But that's okay - old things like me sometimes just need a little bit
of lovin'.
