Hats off to this classic design. This hat, in various patterns, was used by the U.S. Army & National Guard from 1859-1936. Armstrong was one of several hundred firms that supplied the U.S. Army, Navy, National Guard, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and similar organizations to meet dress regulations. The hat arrived at the Museum in 1968.
